PROFILE OF PROFESSOR HAKEEM BABATUNDE FAWEHINMI
Prof Hakeem Fawehinmi is a Professor of Clinical Anatomy and Biomedical Anthropology with a wealth of experience in Institutional Administration and well-rooted in the finest academic traditions. On completion of his medical training in 1992 from UniPort, he undertook his internship training at UPTH before proceeding for his NYSC at the Nigerian Air Force Clinic, Ilorin in 1994. He gained employment into UniPort in June 1995 as a Lecturer II and rose through the ranks to become a Professor in May 2010. During these years of his stewardship, he held key academic and administrative positions and served in several Statutory and Ad–hoc Committees and Boards, attributes which have equipped him with the requisite skills to provide leadership to a well-informed, articulate and growing academic community.
He has been an active member of his National and International Professional Associations where he served as Secretary-General and Member of NEC (1999 – 2000) Nigerian Medical Association, Rivers State, Editor–in–Chief of the Journal of Anatomical Sciences and President of the Society of Experimental and Clinical Anatomists of Nigeria (2014-2016). He has received many Academic and Community Service Awards such as Research Fellow to the Department of Anatomy and Developmental Biology, UCL, Fellow Royal Anthropological Institute of Great Britain and Ireland, Fellow Anatomical Society of Nigeria, Fellow Institute of Industrial Administration of Nigeria and Fellow Experimental and Clinical Anatomists of Nigeria.
