UI Community Forum 2020

UI Community Forum 2020
Since 2000, the University of Ibadan community has maintained a culture of having a town-hall meeting with aspirants to the position of the Vice-Chancellor of the University. The first was in 2000; the last was in 2015. In line with this practice, the fifth University of Ibadan Community Forum tagged "Voice of next Vice-Chancellor 2020' will take place on September 17, 2020 (starting from 10.00am). It will be transmitted on Dimond FM, Zoom, Facebook, and YouTube.

The Forum is jointly organised by the five Campus Unions - the Student Union (SU), Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU), the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT), Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), and Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). The aim of the Forum is to serve as a platform for these esteemed applicants to interact with members of the University community.

Eighteen amply qualified professors of international repute make up the list of applicants for the post of the VC this year. Here on this site, you can read the highly abridged profile of each of them and see their photos as well.

  1. Decent fellow. Serious-minded. Best wishes.

  2. The content of this list suggests that in some quarters, the office of the vice chancellor of UI has been relegated to a cheap common place; every dick and harry of a professor of the meanest standing, from the meanest university, from the meanest discipline, from the meanest religion and from the meanest environment would put himself forward for appointment in to the office. Ibadan remains the best and first university in Nigeria. Competence, intellectual prowess, exposure and experience, administrative potential, leadership quality, humility, and other great qualities must be the main criteria, Religion, origin of birth, must take back seat. Neither the pope nor the sultan nor their creed should come in at all.

    1. What an unfortunate remark from this unknown fellow.

In my own ooinion, all the applicants are eminently qualified for the position. And having listened to them today at the forum organized by the UI Community Forum, I am convinced that any one of them that eventually emerge as the next VC of UI will make us proud.

    2. At the moment the newly elected VC is not making UItes proud. A university that acclaims herself as the first and the best is yet to conclude 2017/18 session in 2021 has not progressed academically. UI is slow, has any progressive step being taken by the newly elected VC?,none till this very moment. UI is more engrossed in proclaiming herself as the first and the best no progress in her academic session,no plan to complete her academic session. UI is the only federal university that is yet to complete 2017/18 session in 2021,shame on UI!!.
