 My Profile of  Professor Clement Olusegun Olaniran KOLAWOLE

I am Clement Olusegun Olaniran Kolawole, a Professor of Language Education, University of Ibadan, Ibadan. I was born on August 6, 1957 at Iyere-Owo, Owo Local Government, Ondo State, Nigeria. I attended the African Church, Epinmi-Akoko for the Teachers Grade II programme between 1980-1983, the Ondo State University, Ado-Ekiti (now Ekiti State University), Ado-Ekiti for the bachelor’s degree programme in English & Education between 1984 – 1988 and graduated in Second Class Upper Division. I had the mandatory National Youth Service at the Department of English, Ogun State University (now Olabisi Onabanjo University), Ago-Iwoye between 1988-1989,  proceeded to the University of Ibadan for the postgraduate degree programmes in English Language Education between 1990 – 2004 and obtained the M.Ed, M. A. and Ph.D respectively. I taught briefly at The International School, University of Ibadan, Ondo State University, Ado-Ekiti and served as the Dean, Faculty of education between 2011 to 2013), Head, Department of Teacher Education between (2016 and 2017) and Department of Arts and Social Sciences Education, the University of Ibadan from (2017 to 2020). I am a member of several academic/professional associations, I have participated in several research activities and served as a consultant to some agencies.

I was an Exchange Scholar at the Department of Elementary and Early Childhood Education, Kennesaw State University, Kennesaw, Georgia, USA (January to May, 2006), had sabbatical appointment at the Department of Basic Education, University of Education, Winneba, Ghana (2010 – 2011). I served as Assistant Warden, Acting Warden and Warden, Nnamidi Azikiwe Hall, (2044 – 2009) and have represented the Senate, University of Ibadan in several committees such as the Distance Learning Centre, The Board of Governors, The International School, The Governing Council, College of Technology, Esa-Oke, Faculty of Education Appointments and Promotions Panel (2006), Member, Faculty of Arts Board (to represent the Faculty of Education), Member, Funds Allocation Committee, University of Ibadan (2008), Chairman, Visitation Panel to The Polytechnic, Ibadan (2012),  Member, Committee on the Review of Guidelines on Promotions of Academic Staff, University of Ibadan, Ibadan (2014), Member, Strategic and Internationalisation Planning Committee, University of Ibadan, Ibadan (2015), Chairman, sub-committee on Curriculum Programmes and Activities of the Strategic and Internationalisation Planning Committee (2015), Chairman, Parent/Teacher Association, The International School, University of Ibadan (2011 – 2015), Development Committee (2018-2020), Senior Staff Disciplinary Committee (2015 -2019), Convener, Implementation of Continuous Assessment Policy (2018 – 2020).  I have had the honour of presenting papers at conferences within and outside the shores of Nigeria.

I have supervised 18 Ph.D theses, 200 M.Ed Dissertations and several B.Ed projects between (1999 and 2020), served as external examiner/assessor to these universities: the University of South Africa, University of Zululand,  Njala University, Sierra Leone, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, University of Ilorin, Ilorin, University of Lagos, Akoka, University of Benin, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ile, Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye,, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba, Niger Delta University, Bonny Island,  Lagos State University, Ojoo, Lagos, Adeyemi College of Education, Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, and Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijegun. I have 116 publications comprising 60 journal articles and 56 books, chapters in books and technical/monographs. I am married with children and serve as a Pastor at All Saints Evangelical Church, Ojoo Express Road, Ibadan.
